We recently visited EMILY – West Village with a couple of friends and found it to be a lovely dining experience. There is a second located as well in Brooklyn; however, we visited the West Village location. The restaurant is a brick structure on the corner with large glass windows, creating a rather cozy, but open feel. Along the walls are booths with wooden tables, and large mirrors to make the space seem a bit bigger. Additionally, there is a downstairs space that has small individual rooms that resemble wine cellars, making for an excellent space for private gatherings.
The pizza is said to be Detroit-style pizza and thus, all the pizzas are square, instead of circular. We ordered the Grammy and the Colony, which were both absolutely delightful. Two people can split a pizza, so we were left with an entire second meal. Our friends as well ordered a pizza, as well as a burger and found their meal to be equally delicious. We also ordered a cocktail, which was nicely prepared and quite tasty.
Our overall experience was quite positive since the staff was friendly, the location was nice, and the food was delicious. We definitely recommend EMILY – West Village for those who are in the village or if you are in the mood to try Detroit-style pizza. The restaurant has become rather popular though, so we recommend calling in for a reservation. EMILY – West Village is another great pizza option for New Yorkers.
