Circa Brewing is located in Downtown Brooklyn in a rather spacious location near Fulton Street. The large ceilings open up the space, making it light and airy. While the brewery is known, of course, for its beer (they also have a few beers brewed by others), Circa also is a restaurant that specializes in pizza. The bar area was rather crowded when we went, but there were plenty of tables for us, which we enjoyed so that we could have more of a conversation. Our service was good, and we ordered a tasting flight of four of their beers, along with their salumi pizza. Circa’s beers were mostly brewed to style, with their IPAs being representative of the region’s usual manner of brewing IPAs. Each of their beers were tasty, and our favorite was the pilsner, which was a bit on the hoppy side and had a nice flavor profile. The star of our visit, however, was our pizza, which combined soppresatta with honey, giving the pizza a sweet and flavorful twist.
Our visit to Circa was very pleasant. The beer was good, the pizza terrific, and the prices reasonable. We were happy that we had decided to stop in to Circa, and since it’s less than a mile away, we plan on returning.
