Richard B. Russell State Park is located in northeastern Georgia along a lake of the same name. The lake is the main feature of the park, so as can be expected, the park’s main attractions focus on the water. The area is well-known for its fishing and boating, but visitors can also go swimming and kayaking. In addition, visitors can enjoy the waterfront, such as the lovely campsites and shelters right along the water. For those wanting to partake in other activities, there are a few hiking trails, including one which we followed along the lakefront to an old steel bridge. Visitors can also go golfing or, for a more family oriented activity, disc golfing. There are lots of activities at Richard B. Russell, so it’s a great place for a weekend getaway with the family.
