Restaurant Week-Day 3
A well-known Decatur restaurant is Cakes & Ale just off the Decatur square. The chefs of Cakes & Ale have a cafe next door with a variety of options for breakfast and lunch, as well as pastries and baked goods. Cakes & Ale is full of neutral colors and wood flooring and accents, making it warm and inviting. Emphasis is placed on freshly prepared, artisan dishes, making it not just a meal, but a dining experience. The evening started with cocktails, off an extensive drink menu. Each cocktail was well made and the flavors perfectly accompanied one another. Next we ordered wine to accompany our meals off an even larger wine menu. For dinner, our party ordered a variety of dishes that rotates depending on the season and fresh ingredients available. We visited with another couple that regularly frequents the restaurant and all of us found our meals to be both delicious and aesthetically pleasing. Since everything is freshly prepared the menu is smaller, as it frequently changes out, but everything is full of flavor and quite tasty. The service as well, was impeccable. Our glasses were never below half full and they continued to ensure our wine glasses were well maintained. The whole evening was a dining experience and one of the best restaurants we have been to in the Atlanta area. Afterwards, we headed to a local ice creamery, Butter & Cream, making for a delicious and fun evening.
