In Jasper, GA is a fun little winery named Fainting Goat Vineyards & Winery, complete with an upside down goat. The drive up to the winery from the eastern side is perhaps some of the most incredible Georgia mountain views we have seen yet. The winery itself is placed near the top of a mountain and overlooks the valley. Unlike some wineries that have a mom and pop shop feel, the Fainting Goat facility is ideal for a winery. The room has tall ceilings, a beautiful stone fireplace, and large windows that open up to the view. The room is spacious, but cozy. The doors open up to a nice deck with tables that allow visitors to grab a glass of wine and simply take in the views. There is also a covered patio below the deck for visitors to sit at with the opportunity for tables to sprawl down the hill towards the vines and goats. As usual, we participated in a wine tasting and found their wines to be a decent selection of wines. The majority of the wine names are based on American history such as Revere, Constitution, Liberty, Old Glory and 1812. Our favorite was the 1812, and we would definitely enjoy grabbing a glass of this while sitting on that incredible deck with the phenomenal view. Fainting Goat is great for a relaxing wine get away to just enjoy nature and try some new wines. If you are looking for a nice outing from the Atlanta area, you can stop by Fainting Goat, and then head to Sharp Mountain Vineyards just a short drive away.
