State Park Week-Day 2
A small state park in southern Georgia on the way from Atlanta to Florida is Jefferson Davis Memorial Historic Site. The park is located in Fitzgerald, GA only a short distance off of the interstate, making it a nice stopping point to get out and stretch your legs. The park has a small nature trail, a museum, and a monument in the spot the Confederate president was arrested. Although, there is a museum about the Civil War with clearly posted hours, be warned the museum may still be closed. We visited the day after a holiday and per the website the museum would be open however, it was closed. Since it was closed, we only were able to see the monument and walk along the small nature trail. There is a cotton farm across the street though and we found the fields to be rather pretty. Jefferson Davis Memorial Historic Site is a small park, but it was nice to get out and stretch our legs and see rural Georgia.
