Papi’s Cuban & Caribbean Grill has several locations throughout Atlanta, and we recently had the pleasure of trying the new location in Emory Pointe. We visited early on a Tuesday evening and were the only patrons in the restaurant when we arrived. The restaurant is full of bright, fun colors and portraits with loud Caribbean music filling the room to create an exciting environment. Shortly after we ordered, other visitors began to trickle in. Other than when Margaret visited Jamaica for a week, neither of us had really tried any Cuban or Caribbean style food. Since we had heard several people rave about Papi’s, we decided it was a good place to start for our first encounter with Caribbean food. We ordered the jerk chicken wings (thanks to Psych), the vaca frita, and mango juice. The food was quite good, and the mango juice was amazing! We both particularly enjoyed the flavors of the vaca frita and found the portions to be hearty sizes, with a little left over for the following day. The service was okay, but the food did not disappoint! Although we have nothing to compare it to, we found Papi’s to be a nice outing with tasty food.
