The North Georgia mountains have been our absolute favorite part of living in Georgia. The mountains are full of hiking, wineries, outdoor activities, and cute little towns full of restaurants and shops. Additionally, the Blue Ridge Mountains are absolutely beautiful and extremely peaceful. We have visited several of the mountain towns and found Ellijay, GA to be another delightful addition to our visits. Ellijay is only an hour and a half from Atlanta, making it a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Ellijay area is known for apple picking, but the town offers a variety of activities. The center of the town sits around a roundabout with little shops, restaurants, and artisan goods, as well as nearby wineries. Visitors can book a cute hotel or bed and breakfast and then stroll along the streets, grab a bite to eat, and visit the artisan stores, picking up various goods such as pottery, olive oil, and soap. We spent an afternoon in Ellijay and found it to be a relaxing and enjoyable visit.
