Spring is fast approaching and that means that soon fruit season will be here! We love fruit, and we also love gathering our own fruit. If we had our own house we hopefully have a fruit tree or two, as well as some berry bushes, but for now we have to travel to enjoy fresh picked fruit from the farm. Southern Belle located in McDonough, GA provides visitors the opportunity to select a variety of fruit all on there own. The farm has three separate times for patrons to come pick their own delicious fruit. In the spring the farm has strawberries, in the summer blueberries, blackberries, and peaches, and in the fall pumpkins, as well as a corn maze! We visited during the summer and had the opportunity to pick the most delightfully juicy peaches we have ever had! The blueberries and blackberries are earlier in the summer, so watch their webpage or Facebook page for constant updates of when the berries are available and then the peaches are later in the summer.
The peach trees were absolutely full of ripe, delicious peaches. We picked a gallon of peaches while we visited and both agreed we finally understood the hype about a Georgia peach. For some reason in stores here the majority of peaches are from California and we had yet to have a Georgia peach, but the wait was definitely worth it. Each bite oozed with flavor and you were covered in the delectably juicy and tasty fruit. After we picked the peaches, we headed up to the general store to pay, as well as look around the market filled with fresh fruit and a variety of home cooked goods from the crops. For those who don’t want to pick their own fruit, there is already pre-picked fruit in the market as well. Afterwards we headed home to create our own tasty treats and enjoy the delicious fresh fruit. If you enjoy picking your own fruit or just heading out to a farm, Southern Belle Farm is a great place to visit.
