Atlanta has many small parks dotting the city, but by far the largest park in the city is Piedmont Park, just east of Midtown. The park offers large green spaces perfect for picnics, pick up games of your favorite sport, or walks. There is a lovely pond in the middle of the park, a perfect setting for a stroll, and there are great views of the city throughout the park. Because of its open spaces, Piedmont Park hosts many of the festivals and events in Atlanta. If you’re in the mood for something else in the park, the Atlanta Botanical Garden is located on the edge of the park. Park Tavern, a local pub, is located on the other end of the park for those wanting either a snack or a place for a romantic dinner. Park Tavern also has an ice skating rink during the winter. Parking can sometimes be difficult around Piedmont Park and usually costs a few dollars, but the park is a nice place to visit and offers a bit of green in the middle of such a large city.
