About halfway between Atlanta and Macon along I-75, there are three state parks in close proximity to each other: Indian Springs State Park, Jarrell Plantation State Historic Site, and High Falls State Park. High Falls is the tallest cascading waterfall south of Atlanta and makes a great sight to see. The park contains some of the land around the lake from which the falls come. This land has some nice hiking spots and campsites for those wanting to spend the weekend or stopping off on the way to/from Florida. The centerpiece of the park, however, is the falls. A hiking trail leads visitors beside the falls, offering periodic glimpses of the long cascade as it tumbles down into the river below. The falls is quite nice and can be relaxing, although the trail is popular, so don’t go expecting solitude. Seeing the falls is rewarding though, so we recommend stopping by this state park.
