Cavender Creek Vineyards is another addition to the north Georgia wineries and will not disappoint. The winery is located in Dahlonega not far from other wineries and attractions, such as Wolf Mountain Vineyards, Frogtown Cellars, The Cottage Vineyard, Helen, Babyland, and Vogel State Park, so it’s a convenient location for anyone who wants to explore the area or visit several wineries in the same day. Cavender Creek itself is on a small vineyard, which, like other wineries in the area, is quite scenic and peaceful. The tasting room is in a small wooden, barn-like structure. The rustic exterior is continued in the interior, which is filled with rough-hewn wood and corrugated metal. There is a small seating area inside and a large bar area where visitors can partake in tastings. Cavender Creek featured several wines to taste, with a few whites, a few reds, and a few sweet wines. We enjoyed all of the wines we tasted but found the Donkey Hotie, a red blend with Norton and Cabernet Franc grapes, to be our favorite. We left after our tasting since we were going to several other wineries, but we would have gladly stayed, gotten a glass of wine, and sipped it on the patio of the tasting room. Cavender Creek is one of the more enjoyable North Georgia wineries we have been to, and we recommend paying a visit.
