A little state park we discovered on our continual journey from St. Louis to Atlanta is Port Royal State Historic Park in Adams, TN. The park is actually cut up by roads that runs through it. Port Royal is a significant location along the Trail of Tears, but is also known for the remains of buildings and a still standing steel bridge. The state historic park is located near the highway, making it ideal for those requiring a stopping point, the chance to stretch their legs, or the opportunity to learn a little more about America’s history. Port Royal offers a variety of activities including boating, hiking, fishing, and history. We spent about a hour roaming about the park and exploring the old structures. Port Royal State Historic Park is a great place to stop off for those traveling or for those who live in the area to learn more.
