A popular chain that has been emerging across the south is Newk’s Eatery. Originally from Mississippi, Newk’s focuses on fresh, delicious, comfort food. Newk’s has a diverse menu serving soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, mac and cheese, and more. Their food is quite tasty, and the serving sizes are perfect to walk away feeling full, but not overly stuffed. They offer an option to pair foods together as well, so you can mix and match. Our personal favorites are the Italian sandwich (which is quite spicy), the Caesar salad, any one of their pizzas, and their famous mac and cheese. We live in the Druid Hills neighborhood, and the Newk’s there has become a staple restaurant. No matter what time of day we go in there, Newk’s is constantly packed. Due to its popularity, we actually recommend avoiding it during the hours of noon to two on a weekday as it has become the place for work lunches. A unique and helpful feature about Newk’s is that their website offers a detailed nutrition calculator (but be warned some of their best food is probably not the healthiest). Additionally they have a 600 calorie menu listed on their site to provide you with healthier options. Overall, Newk’s is a nice option for a lunch during a hard work day, a Sunday meal after church, or a place to grab some good food and catch up with friends and family.
