Slightly north of Atlanta in Dahlonega, GA, at the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is Montaluce Winery. For those who haven’t been to the Blue Ridge Mountains, they are absolutely breathtaking, and sipping a glass of wine with that incredible view makes for a perfect afternoon. Montaluce Winery is set among large acres filled with hills and Italian-style buildings to create the ultimate Tuscan experience even while in Georgia. Besides a winery, Montaluce offers a lovely restaurant, event space, and the option to rent the villas that are on the property. The restaurant and winery are set inside a massive stone and stucco structure. There is a large restaurant space inside and a separate wine tasting area, with elegant decor throughout that continues onto the veranda that wraps around the back of the building that allows guests to take in some beautiful views all while enjoying wine. We didn’t try the food, but partook in a wine tasting and tried a variety of Montaluce’s wines. They offer a white wine flight, a red wine flight, and a mixed wine flight. We had the red wine tasting and enjoyed each of the wines that included a sangiovese, malbec, merlot, syrah, and petite sirah. The tasting was a little bit more on the expensive side with five tastes for $16. We both agreed that they had a tasty flight of red wines that would each be ideal dinner wines to enhance an already lovely meal. The wine and setting of Montaluce Winery create a perfect outing with friends, family, or date.
