A fun and FREE event in Atlanta (it is rare we get to say free in regards to Atlanta) is the King of Pops Field Day. The event takes place at the Masquerade, a venue in Atlanta, located in the Old Fourth Ward, that has both indoor and outdoor options. King of Pops Field Day offers carnival games, food, live bands, and free King of Pops! In Atlanta, King of Pops is advertised everywhere and we had not yet tried them so when we saw this event last year we decided this is a great way to finally taste this treat everyone raves about and enjoy a free afternoon activity. We both really enjoyed the event and spent the afternoon walking around looking at the different activities, food trucks, and listening to the band while enjoying our delicious pops. King of Pops are in fact as good as everyone makes them out to be. If you do choose to partake in the games and food, besides getting your sweet pop, the proceeds from the event go towards community projects. Another bonus to this event, is that Atlanta events that often claim to be free involve a parking nightmare or you have to pay to park for a free event, which ruins the whole free aspect, however, we had no trouble finding parking as it is situated next to the Historic Fourth Ward Park.
After we roamed about the event, we walked across to the park and explored a little gem of a park in Atlanta. Today is the day for the King of Pops Field Day–so grab your free King of Pops, listen to some great music, play some games, grab some food from the local food trucks, and support your community!
