A new arrival to the Georgia wine scene is Sweet Acre Farms Winery. The winery itself does not have an official location yet, but it is in conjunction with Sweet Acre Farms, in Alto, GA. Sweet Acre Farms is known for their u-pick blackberries, which lines up perfectly with Sweet Acre Farms Winery that focuses on berry wines. The winery itself should be opening up fairly soon so you will be able to go visit the winery, instead of finding out where they are setting up shop for the day.
We did a tasting while they were set up at one of their temporary locations at Mericer Orchards and found the wine to be quite tasty. In general we are more dry, red-wine people, however, Sweet Acre Farms Winery was primarily sweet wines. Since their wine is based from berries, such as strawberries and blueberries, we actually were surprised at how much we enjoyed a sweet wine and both really like their wines. Each wine we tried was extremely flavorful and would make great dessert wines. Our personal favorite was actually a tie between the strawberry and blueberry wine, so we decided to get the strawberry since it was more unusual. Overall, we really liked their wine and recommend both the blueberry and strawberry wine with the donkey on the label. They should be opening soon so you can check out their brand new tasting room and delicious wines, while exploring a new Georgia winery in the scenic Georgia mountains.
