To kick off October and the fall season, each day this week I will focus on a fall activity, meal, or craft. First we will start with a fall classic-a corn maze! There are several in Northern Georgia, but the one we visited was Jaemor Farms in Alto, GA, which is about an hour northeast of Atlanta.
Jaemor Farms, is a small, family-run business that is packed full of fall activities that will get you into the spirit of the season. Jaemor offers apple picking, pumpkin picking, a large barn to hang out and grab some fall snacks, a general store, and, the reason for our visit, the corn maze. Apple and pumpkin picking are pretty standard, and provide you with an opportunity to get fresh food. The large barn provides you with the ultimate farm feeling. Inside there are plenty of tables to sit and enjoy a snack at, with several options for food and beverages. At Jaemor, the general store is rather large and offers a wide variety of homemade goods, fresh food, and other trinkets. We got some delicious German chocolate cake that was absolutely delightful!
The corn maze is massive, difficult, and of course fun. There were a couple challenges that were incorporated into the maze, making it more taxing than simply trying to get out. Plan on spending a couple hours in the corn maze as it takes quite a bit of time and is very large. Although at times it was a bit hard, we overall enjoyed trying to find the clues and simply running around the rows and rows of corn.
Jaemor Farms was a delightful fall outing that provided us with food, entertainment, and the overall sense that the fall season had truly begun. We brought home some pumpkins, gourds, and of course German chocolate cake that allowed the fall fun to continue even at home. We both recommend taking a trip up to Jaemor Farms to experience the outdoors, small town fun, delicious baked goods, and fall fun in a classic way by roaming around corn fields.
Side Note: In the spring, Jaemor also has strawberry picking.
