So, by looking at the name, you probably inherently think “grill”-there must be lots of burgers and fried food. Well, there are plenty of burger options, but the restaurant is definitely not what you would probably imagine simply by the name. R. Thomas Deluxe Grill is actually a restaurant known for its organic and vegetarian options, as well as its funky style. The restaurant is located in Atlanta and offers visitors a very unique dining experience.
By appearances, it looks as if it is a run-down building with a tarp thrown up next to it with some sticks to add an outdoor space. The decor is made up of massive flower arrangements, a random ensemble of huge lawn pieces, and a rather large bird collection-and, yes, they are real birds. Inside the restaurant you feel as if you have gone back in time to relive a never ending psychedelic experience. The ceiling is covered in an array of color cloths and colored lights. The decor feels random and strewn together in a perfectly haphazard way. Don’t let the seemingly shack look with gaudy lawn ornaments deter you; the menu is actually impressive and the food was just as tasty.
The menu is just as diverse and unique as the decorations. There is plenty of variety for both vegetarians and meat lovers, with an added funk to everything. If you are looking for a basic meal or recipe, R. Thomas Deluxe Grill may not be the place for you, but if you are up for new combinations of food and experimenting, this may be the perfect quirky restaurant you were looking for. While there, we experienced our first taste of flax chips-unusual for sure, but definitely a fun experiment and the guacamole accompanying it was delicious! Overall, we both enjoyed our unique evening at the R. Thomas Deluxe Grill and were impressed with the eclectic and tasty menu!
